The reason Lee PD casted JR was because she saw that JR was thoughtful, and he had a jewel-like charm. She was also a fan of NU'EST for a long time, so she hoped that NU'EST would walk the flowery path in a mother's perspective and decided to cast JR.

Like Lee PD said, this is the first time NU'EST JR, who received lots of attention through PD101S2, was casted to be a fixed guest of a variety show. JR said, "This is my first variety show. After receiving popularity from MNET 'Produce 101', JR has been appointed as a fixed guest for a variety show for the first time in his life and said he received messages of congratulations from his friends and family. JR said, "Members and Family were happy for me. My mother and father were glad that they can see me as a fixed guest. My members told me not to be nervous and enjoy myself."

At the question "Did anybody from PD101S2 send you support?" JR answered, "There are kids I got close to through the show, so we exchange messages here and there. We are all supporting each other. Kwon Hyunbin told me lots of good things. I gave him lots of support and advice, so we are close to each other and support each other. We tell each other 'I'm watching (the show) well' 'you're working hard' 'I'm glad hyung is working hard', etc."

[INTERVIEW] Kwon Hyunbin for W Korea (mention of IKYK, JBJ [lowkey], CUBE chicks, Dean, and more!)

How are you doing nowadays? I heard you have a music video filming tomorrow.
Hyunbin: I have been chosen to be the main character of a music video for a girl group that is debuting. It's my first time appearing in a music video, so I'm nervous but excited.

You probably need to act more than a photoshoot.
Hyunbin: Nowadays, as a model or idol, facial expressions are very important, so I received acting lessons and I practiced too. For photoshoots, instead of facial expressions, I try to pose so that there will be less pictures that won't be a bit regretful.

How long have you been modeling for? I heard you were a fencing athlete before too.
Hyunbin: It's my 8th season in terms of collections (F/W, S/S), and I was a fencing athlete from 3rd grade of middle school to 2nd grade of high school. I liked fencing, and I like what I'm doing now. I think I'm always adapting to however I am living. Working hard depending on the situation. I heard some bad things about me in the beginning of <Produce 101> but I don't focus too much on it. That's why I think I don't really regret much in general.

If you have no regrets, do you not have any regrets about being eliminated right before the final ranking?
Hyunbin: I think it's already so much for me to be in this place right now. While on the program, I thought, "I really want to become an idol and if I don't, it's the end.", but as a result I left a good image and am thankful for the outcome. If I had a regret, it's that I wish I had a chance to perform on stage with the friends (I Know You Know team) I did the song with one more time.

You tried out a sport, challenged yourself to be an idol, and are doing a model. Each aspect has different characteristics and are not easy at all.
Hyunbin: Of course everybody does difficult things in different ways, but I think I have lots of energy. Even if I'm tired and overworked, when it's night time I have my own me-time and play around, so I realized that I have overflowing energy. After my schedule is done, I go home and play games or watch movies on my phone and sleep late. The busier I get, I try hard to not lose my own personality and have time to myself. If I was truly physically tired, I don't think I could be like this.

So what was more physically difficult? Fencing and dorming, fashion weeks with multiple shows, or <Produce 101>.
Hyunbin: The most difficult was 101. Practicing was tiring, but the fact that we can't completely be off-guard because the camera rolls 24 hours was hard. But I wasn't really conscious of the camera so I was honest with my actions. At home, I don't wear lots of clothes but it's not good to do that on camera so I try my best to suppress it. But after the program ended, I realized what Song Minho's 'Fear' lyrics, 'living inside a CCTV' meant and related to it.

After <101> ended, you have been promoting more as a model. Are you still planning to be an idol, or have you naturally put that  away?
Hyunbin: I don't think it's impossible (to promote as an idol). I want to think after I resolve everything that was given to me, but I know that my parents and company know I really want (to promote as an idol) so the possibility is always open. But I think I have to practice a lot. So much. There are lots of people saying I improved a lot, but that's because I started from nothing. Even CUBE's chick trainees (Lai Guanlin, Yoo Seonho) had basic training for 6 months, but I didn't even have any basics at all so I was a bit distressed. I think it seemed like I improved  a lot because I was learning things, but I know I still lack a lot.

What do you enjoy the most: dancing, singing, or rapping?
Hyunbin: I have a lot of interest in singing lately. I listen to Bolbbalgan4 and Hyukoh Band often. When I was young, I listened to lots of rock and pop songs so I liked Adam Lambart from <American Idol>. He has such a wide vocal range, and he's a very talented musician that can sing with both his natural voice and falsettos. Of course I can't have such spectacular techniques like that, but I want to find a way to portray my vocal color in the most charming way. <101> vocal trainers gave me lots of strength with their words. It wasn't broadcasted, but they complimented me saying I showed my deep voice well so I gained lots of confidence. The trend now a days is R&B Jazz Hip-Hop so I think people who make those kind of music is really cool

Name some people who you think make good music?
Hyunbin: (searching for a live performance on his own phone) There's a song called 'd (Half Moon)' by Dean, and you should really listen to this part. I think he's the best at showing the best part of his vocals in all of South Korea.

Did you know that producer of the song you participated in, 'I Know You Know', Shin Hyuk producer taught Dean?
Hyunbin: I didn't know at all. I wanted to get Shin Hyuk Teacher's contact, but I was a trainee who got their phone taken away so I couldn't. People were wondering who sang the guide for 'I Know You Know' vocals and it was Shin Hyuk Teacher himself who sang even the chorus. I realized he was a genius then. I think it's a good song to listen to while driving.

[INTERVIEW] Kim Donghan for STAR1

Kim Donghan's Stage

"Donghan being in the center is pretty." This is what trainer Kahi said to Kim Donghan (19), who was practicing in EXO 'CALL ME BABY' Team 1. He instantly received the title 'DongCenPre' (short for Donghan being in the center is pretty) and safely made his place in Nation's Producer's heart. Kim Donghan rose up from 79th place to the 30's and ended at 29th place. Nobody expected this dramatic ranking change, but Donghan knew how to intelligently carry out the given stage with the sixth sense and outstanding intuition he was born with.

I assume your life has changed before and after participating in <Produce 101 Season 2>.
Donghan: I just practiced all the time, but now I take photoshoots, have interviews, and experience things I never did so it's all very exciting. It's really cool that people recognize me while I'm on the streets. Long time ago, when I was in a dance team in Daegu, people would kind of recognize me, but whenever I go near the company, people take pictures of me. So I have become more cautious. I used to joke around all the time, but I try to walk calmly now.

Your dramatic rank increase was an issue, what do you think the reason for you shooting up from the bottom is?
Donghan: I covered 'CALL ME BABY' with the dance team before, so I knew the entire choreography. So I practiced more of the face expression, gesture or the feeling instead of the choreo. I watched EXO's videos and tried to get the mood of any face expression or actions they did often. I would like to carefully assume that people who like EXO like me as well.

You did a fanmeeting recently. You have stage experience from the show, but you must feel different.
Donghan: It was broadcasted live on V Live as well. That's why a lot more people were watching. People like me even before I debuted so I was nervous, but people viewed me nicely even if I made a mistake so I was thankful. Also, there were a lot more people who liked other trainees during the PD101S2 performances. But in my fanmeeting, there were lots of people who came to see me so I gained the confidence and comfortably went through it.

I see you changed your hair color to purple. Your hair color changed a lot these past few months, is it to relieve stress or are you looking for something that suits your image?
Donghan: I just wanted to do it. I've never dyed my hair, but after turning 20 years old and going on the show, I dyed my hair for the first time. If you bleach your hair, you can dye it any color so I just wanted to do every color I want so I keep changing it.

Then how do you relieve your stress?
Donghan: I relieve it by watching dramas, movies, or variety shows. I watched the movie <Spider Man> as soon as it came out. I try not to watch much lately. It's hard to control my emotions, and if I get too into it, I feel like I won't have much time so I am trying to cut down on it. so I am watching what I really want to watch, and that's variety shows. I try watch 10~15 different variety shows a week. I like <Infinity Challenge> <Running Man> and <New Journey to the West>. I try not to start a new variety show. Because if I like it, I will fall into it. But I think I watch too much, so I think I should still cut down on it.

[INTERVIEW] Kim Yongguk for STAR1

Getting colored into Kim Yongguk

Kim Yongguk (21) is like the air. So clean and clear, it was to the point you couldn't feel his presence. But through the stage 'If It Was You', Kim Yongguk's calm voice was quietly imprinted into a place in our hearts. He closed his two eyes and sang as the lyrics were imprinted into our hearts.

Your name and appearance seems like a Korean person, but you are actually Chinese. You are really good at Korean so we were all fooled. How did you learn Korean?
Yongguk: There is a Korean neighborhood in Shanghai. I danced with Korean hyungs and was close with them, so I naturally learned the language. At first, I knew the Korean word, but I couldn't think of a phrase. After using body language, I slowly started learning the language. People think I'm from Busan because of the way I talk. The hyungs I was close with in China and the hyungs that cared for me in Korea are all from Busan. I thought that was the main dialect, I thought, "Oh, this is Korean" so I copied the hyungs' way of talking.

The lifestyle of Korea and China are very different.
Yongguk: It is very different. First off, the environment of Korea is very clean. But there is one thing I'm very lazy about. You have to separate the trash very often. Haha. And the people are very kind. When you ask about the directions in Korea, people kindly help you.

How do you overcome living in a different country?
Yongguk: I get lonely very often. I like playing games, so I overcome my loneliness with it. I mainly play <Overwatch> or <Dual of Legend> and I learned lots of weird slang through it. One of the words I learned 3 years ago was 'So good' (t/n: the words can be literally translated into Dog Pig) so I figured out that you use this word when you are happy, and when I receive vacation after practicing, I would say 'Oh? So good!'. I don't say it anymore.

How did you decide on appearing on <Produce 101 Season 2>
Yongguk: Honestly, I gave up on my dream of being an idol and went back to China 1~2 years ago. While practicing, I missed my home and the system was too tiring for me, and I couldn't really adapt to it despite a year passing so it was hard for me. So I said I'd quit and went back to China. But when I went back, there was nothing to do. It felt like I failed at life. I was really numb, like I finished living my entire life. And in the midst of that, <Produce 101 Season 1> was airing. While watching lots of people practice for their dreams I thought to myself, "Ah, I shouldn't have given up, I want to do it again". And I was lucky for our company CEO to give me a call. He used to be in the company I used to be a trainee of and he said he had his eye on me and he was wondering if I wanted to become a trainee under his company. I didn't think twice and said, "Yes, thank you" and packed my bags and went back to Korea. While I was practicing, I received news of <Produce 101 Season 2> and got to go on it. I was very lucky.

Fans are curious about the tattoo on your collarbone. What meaning does it have?
Yongguk: About a week before I went to Korea, I got a tattoo in China. It says, 'LIFE FOR MUSIC'; it means that I am starting new in Korea and I want to remember my roots. It's basically a pledge. But the meaning is a bit cringey. So when somebody asks me to show it, I can't.

Kim Sanggyun (22), who was idol group TOPP DOGG's maknae, showed confident, non-maknae-like sides on Mnet <Produce 101 Season 2>. He always smiled widely, but the ambitiousness he showed on stage showed a different desperation, and offstage he fought against lots of worries. He spit out his honest feelings casually without wrapping it like a present or explaining it word by word. Kim Sanggyun is this type of person.

You were actively promoting, what mindset did you appear on <Produce 101 Season 2>.
Sanggyun: The company received an offer to appear on the show. I enjoyed watching Season 1, it was an interesting show with a nice format. I knew that the show would become an issue, so I couldn't miss it for the world. I thought that if I went on the show, I would do well. I think I did well going on it, so I don't regret it.

Looked like you were flying on stage.
Sanggyun: That's what you're supposed to do on stage. But I was also burdened, so I don't think I showed my full potential.

Since you're a rapper, I assume you work hard writing good lyrics.
Sanggyun: Before, I would get lets of good phrases and words through books, but I don't read nowadays. I have a habit since long time ago, but if I thought of a good lyric, or even just a good phrase, I would take note of it. Even if it's useless, I write it. Those become helpful in the end.

What did you realize while filming the show?
Sanggyun: I knew I couldn't sing, but I really can't sing. The atmosphere while filming was filling up your missing pieces and improve your talents. The timetable (schedule) was tight, so I felt mentally pressured so my singing improved forcefully. I'm satisfied that I improved from my initial talents, and my key range has broadened.

I think you're brainstorming on what path you need to go down now?
Sanggyun: I already have. I received a good opportunity to go on PD101S2 and put my name out there, so I am currently preparing to show good music with all these good vibes at my way.

Hyunbin: I'm not just running into it with no thought, but I'm the type to think depending on the situation and then make my decision. No matter what the situation is, I don't think too long either. You can think of it as me not getting too worried even if it's an important situation. When I run into certain situations at a certain moment I think, 'I have to do this'. 'I shouldn't do this'. 'If I do this, I think I can do well?' all these thoughts come in my head. That's how I ran into Mnet <Produce 101 Season 2>. I have made a lot of different challenges living for 20 years, but I have never regretted it before.

You liked writing lyrics and rapping since you were young, but why did you start promoting in the entertainment industry as a model and not a singer?
Hyunbin: Honestly, I wanted to be an idol while participating in <Produce 101 Season 2>. I was in the dance club for a short time while I was in high school, but I thought to myself, "Celebrities go on a bigger scaled stage than this everyday right?" and only had a mild interest, but my dream has never gotten this big. And then I received news about Season 2, so I wanted to try it out and I took the chance.

You are from a model-based industry so I believe the company would be against the appearance on the show.
Hyunbin: Nowadays, there are lots of modeltainers (t/n: model + entertainers) so the company wasn't against it, but they were very worried. There are lots of models who become actors, but I think I was one of the first people to become a singer (from the company). There are no idol trainees in our company, so I didn't get any training regarding (being an idol), but they gave me the courage and chance after seeing my talent and possibilities.

You had no training as an idol, what do you think your specialty was in the midst of so many trainees?
Hyunbin: My body. haha

While filming the show, in which aspects do you think you have grown?
Hyunbin: Showing my honest side is the same as before, but I think my actions and the way I accept things in my heart has gotten very calm. When I do something, I focus a lot more, and I became more thoughtful. We always had to prepare a stage in a short amount of time. It was difficult because the moment the stage ends, we are either eliminated or surviving and preparing for the next stage right away, and there were a lot of repetitive situations where we were short on time. But now that I look back on it, it was thanks to those situations that my mentality has gotten a lot stronger. In the short time, I was faced with a variety of situations that helped me hold on to my tired heart. I experienced many things in this side that I would have never thought of in the model world, so I guess you can say my internal self has gotten a lot more firm.

NU'EST Choi Minki (Ren) has been confirmed to join the new JTBC variety show as a fixed cast member.

According to a representative, Produce 101 Season 2 will be hosting a screening and having a special talkshow on August 18th. This will be sponsored by MNET Japan.
